2013 Georgia Junior Beef Futurity Schedule Wednesday July 10, 2013 4:00 p.m. Barn opens to accept cattle. Report to Office in the Beef Barn (upper barn) to get stall assignments. 8:00 p.m. Barn Office closes. Late arrivals must go to tie-outs. (Do NOT stall yourself!) Thursday July 11, 2013 7:00 a.m. Barn opens to accept cattle. Report to Office in the Beef Barn (upper barn) to get stall assignments. Georgia Junior Cattlemen’s Field Day (Contact Dallas Duncan at 478-474-6560 for more information or visit www.gabeef.org/gjca) 1:00-3:00 p.m. Heifer & Steer Check in. – Practice Ring # 3 Refer to Futurity rules and descriptive list of steers for additional information. All cattle are required to come through check in. Registered heifers need original registration papers. 2:00 p.m. Scholarship Contest participants should report to the Beef/Dairy Arena. 3:00 p.m All cattle must be in place and checked in. 6:00 p.m. Opening Ceremony – Beef/Dairy Arena Georgia Club Calf Producers’ Association Awards Program (All are required to attend, all activity in barn ceases) **TBA Scholarship Showmanship (30 minutes after GCCPA Awards Program) 12th grade showmanship (immediately following Scholarship Showmanship) 10:00 p.m. Lights turned out in barn, no one allowed in barn after 10:00 p.m. Friday July 12, 2013 8:00 a.m. Showmanship (may show steer or heifer); Will show by grade the exhibitor will enter in the fall – start with 11th grade. 10:00 – noon Stockman’s Quiz Contest – all exhibitors are invited to participate – Vet Office Showmanship continues by grade. 12:00 noon Lunch (on your own – show will not stop) Showmanship continues Presentation of scholarships: Dan Daniel Scholarship, C.D. Brannen Memorial Scholarship, M.K. ‘Curly’ Cook Scholarship and Billy Moss Scholarship. –Steer Show follows Showmanship (Steers will be shown by breed. (Refer to Futurity rules for details on showing steers by breed. Read classification guidelines.) Selection of Overall Grand and Reserve Champion Steer, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Overall Steers selected also (all breed champions and reserve breed champions compete)
